Prof. Odukoya set to Deliver Webinar on Nigeria’s Democratic Experience, April 8

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ƶ, Professor Adelaja Odutola Odukoya, will deliver an academic webinar on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (Nigerian time)

Hosted by the Carleton University Institute of African Studies, the lecture titled “Democracy as Disempowerment: Insurgent Publics and the Political Economy of Post-1999 Nigeria” will interrogate Nigeria’s democratic trajectory since 1999.

This webinar will explore the expansion of political rights alongside deepening economic disempowerment, patterns of elite state capture, and the rise of citizen-led movements, including End SARS, in the broader quest for accountable governance.
