The team, led by Joy Okoi Obasesam, is made up of Emmanuel Awolowo, Chan Lukwagh Bright, Shallom Adebayo, and Isokpunwu Orobosa, students of the UNILAGfrom various departments and faculties, working together at the UNILAGDesign Studio and Innovation Hub.
These bright minds are proudly representing UNILAGas the only Nigerian team selected as semi-finalists at the Rice360 Global Health Technologies Design Competition in the United States.

Their innovation, the AM Detector, is a low-cost, portable device designed to detect amniotic fluid leakage early in pregnancy, helping prevent preterm births, infections, and avoidable neonatal deaths. It appears like a simple idea, in a simple device but it has a life-saving impact.
